The Princess of Wales will attend Wimbledon this afternoon to watch the women's singles final and present the trophy to the winner on Centre Court. Catherine, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, will award the Venus Rosewater Dish to the champion of the all-Czech final between No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova and No. 9 seed Linda Noskova.
All-Czech Final Promises Intriguing Match
The final is expected to be highly competitive, as both players are familiar with each other's game. They have faced off only once in official competition but frequently practice together and were doubles partners at the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to tournament officials, the match is anticipated to draw significant attention due to the players' close history.
Royal Box Appearance and Meet-and-Greet
Catherine will have a front-row seat in the Royal Box, marking her second attendance at Wimbledon this year. Upon arrival, she is expected to have a brief meet-and-greet with the players. Her presence underscores her ongoing support for the sport and her role as patron of the AELTC.
Earlier in the tournament, Catherine attended on Thursday, July 9, to watch Briton Arthur Fery play his second-round match against Otto Virtanen. Fery later exited in the semi-finals. During that visit, she sat in the crowd alongside AELTC chairwoman Deborah Jevans and former British tennis No. 1 Tim Henman. Their conversation was recorded for a special edition of Overheard at Wimbledon, a social media series capturing audience reactions.
Three Peaks Challenge and Royal Engagement
During her previous visit, Catherine discussed her recent Three Peaks challenge with Henman and Jevans. She completed climbs of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon within 24 hours at the end of June to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where she received treatment in 2024. She told Henman that the cause “keeps you going through the hard times.” Kensington Palace shared photos of her being greeted by her husband, three children, and parents at the challenge's conclusion.
