Princess Charlotte gets cricket shirt gift from Prince William

Princess Charlotte has received a sports-related gift from her father, Prince William, after he attended a cricket match this week. The future king was seen playing cricket in front of Buckingham Palace and returned home with a treat for his daughter following his outing on Tuesday.

Special Shirt From England Captain

William was presented with a special cricket shirt for Princess Charlotte by England women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. He reportedly beamed as he picked up the red and blue T20 shirt for the 2026/2027 season, complete with the embroidered Three Lions crest.

William played alongside England Test captain Joe Root, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, West Indies legend Brian Lara and Nat Sciver-Brunt, with England white-ball captain Harry Brook. During the game, William was told that he is a “good batter” but his bowling “needed a bit of work”.

Charlotte’s Love for Cricket

Princess Charlotte is known to enjoy playing cricket, making the present meaningful to the young royal. The 11-year-old reportedly plays on her school team at Lambrook in Berkshire and has previously shown off her bowling skills, Hello! Magazine reports.

Charlotte has often accompanied her mum, Princess Catherine, to Wimbledon and other sporting events. During a visit to Wakefield Trinity, Princess Catherine met a group of schoolgirls taking part in rugby, reports The Royal Observer. Chatting with them, Princess Catherine spoke about Charlotte’s active routine, but said: “She does loads of sport but not rugby.”

Favourite Sport Revealed

Princess Charlotte does, however, enjoy gymnastics, which holds a special place in her heart as her favourite pursuit, reports GB News. Charlotte told Tim Lawler, CEO of charity Sports Aid, during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham that she loves the sport.

Lawler said at the time: “She really, really loved seeing the swimming, but she's interested in gymnastics, and while they're trying lots of different sports at home, I understand, when I asked her about sport she answered very easily and said, 'It's gymnastics that I like.’”
