The Princess Royal has described her father, the Duke of Edinburgh, as her 'teacher, supporter and critic' in a written statement following his death at age 99. Princess Anne, the duke's only daughter, said he would leave a 'legacy which can inspire us all'.
Her tribute comes after her brother, the Duke of York, revealed that the Queen described the loss as 'having left a huge void in her life'. Prince Andrew, speaking outside a service at Windsor's Royal Lodge, said the family was 'rallying round' to support the monarch.
The Earl of Wessex, the Queen's youngest son, called the death a 'dreadful shock', while the Countess of Wessex described the duke's passing as 'very peaceful'. She added: 'It was just like somebody took him by the hand and off he went.'
A ceremonial royal funeral will be held at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, on 17 April at 15:00 BST. The Duke of Sussex will attend from the US, though his wife Meghan will remain in California on medical advice. It will mark the first meeting between Princes William and Harry since their televised interview last month.
