Prince William's 'true feelings' about Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been revealed after a warm encounter at a recent royal event. The sisters made a surprise appearance at Peter and Harriet Phillips' wedding earlier this month, held at All Saints' Church in the Cotswolds village of Kemble, Gloucestershire. William was pictured warmly greeting both cousins outside the church, even kissing Beatrice on the cheek.
Speculation Quashed
It had previously been reported that William had grown wary of his cousins due to the ongoing controversy surrounding their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, and their connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. However, William's affectionate gesture appeared to shut down any speculation about a rift.
Royal Expert Weighs In
BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond commented on the interaction, telling the Mirror: "I think there's an interesting comparison to be made between the way William greeted his cousins at the wedding and his obvious contempt for their father at the Duchess of Kent's funeral. William does sometimes seem to wear his heart on his sleeve, so I think we can conclude that he doesn't hold Beatrice and Eugenie responsible in any way for their parents' sins."
Bond added: "He knew the cameras were there, and he made a point of greeting them warmly. It must have been quite emotional for the princesses, who were already braving the lion in the den by appearing at such a high-profile event."
Bravery of the Princesses
Bond also praised Beatrice and Eugenie for attending the wedding, saying: "I thought it was quite brave of Beatrice and Eugenie to show up… knowing that the cameras would be on them." The King is said to be incredibly fond of his nieces, and William's actions align with that sentiment.
