BBC iPlayer has added a new true crime documentary, Murder Trial: The Death of a Dog Walker, offering unprecedented access inside Scotland's High Courts. The series follows the prosecution and defence during a real-life murder trial, from opening statements to final arguments.
Brian Low's Death and the Trial
Brian Low, a 65-year-old former country estate groundsman, was found dead in February 2024 in rural Perthshire, in an area known as 'Leafy Lane'. Initially, police treated the death as non-suspicious, but later revealed shotgun injuries. David Campbell, a 77-year-old ex-gamekeeper, was charged with murder.
The documentary follows Campbell's trial, where the prosecution alleges he had a long-standing grudge against Low from their time working at the Edradynate Estate. The defence aims to challenge the prosecution's timeline.
Family and Colleagues Speak
The programme includes testimony from former colleagues and family. Brian's partner Pam said, "I got on with Brian from the word go. Everybody that met Brian liked him, I don't think he had a bad bone in his body." His brother Douglas added, "Who would want to harm Brian? He was the kindest, nicest person you could ever imagine. I never thought he had an enemy in the world, I really didn't."
