The Prince and Princess of Wales have marked Black History Month with a visit to Cardiff, where they met members of the Windrush generation. The royal couple spent time engaging with the community, highlighting the contributions of those who arrived in the UK from Caribbean countries between 1948 and 1971.
During their visit, William and Kate also stopped by Fitzalan High School. There, they learned about the work pupils have been doing around black history, including projects that explore the legacy of the Windrush generation and the broader history of black people in Britain.
The Princess of Wales shared a personal anecdote with students, revealing that she had studied art and psychology at A-level. The couple were also presented with a bag of Welsh cakes, a traditional Welsh delicacy, which they accepted warmly.
One pupil commented on the significance of the visit, stating: 'It'll probably go down in the school's history.' The remark captured the excitement surrounding the royal engagement, which was part of wider celebrations for Black History Month across the UK.
