Prince William Praises 'Amazing' Kate After Italy Trip

Prince William has heaped praise on his wife Kate, the Princess of Wales, following her ambitious solo visit to Italy. During a live broadcast from the Isles of Scilly, William described Kate as an "amazing mum" and "amazing wife," admitting that the family "couldn't cope without her."

Heartfelt Tribute During Isles of Scilly Visit

Speaking with Heart Breakfast presenters Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, the Prince of Wales, 43, shared a touching tribute to the Princess of Wales. He revealed that Kate is gradually returning to overseas engagements after her cancer diagnosis in January 2024. "She's an amazing mum, an amazing wife and literally our family couldn't cope without her," William said.

The prince made these comments during a visit to the Isles of Scilly, where he later toured a hospital and met with staff and patients at a new facility aimed at delivering more services to island residents.

Kate's Successful Italy Trip

William also provided an update on Kate's visit to Italy earlier this month. The Princess of Wales, 44, introduced herself as "Catarina" in Italian while speaking to children in Reggio Emilia. The trip, part of her early childhood work examining nature-centric learning, was widely viewed as a triumph, with Kate receiving a rapturous welcome from residents.

William noted that Kate has immersed herself in the subject, even leaving piles of documents in their bedroom. "She wanted to go and do lots of research - she spends God knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork," he said. "He's a proper pro and most evenings I'm fighting to get past, in the bedroom, all the paperwork she has to read. So, I'm really pleased for her. I think she came back buzzing."

Balancing Royal Duties and Health

When asked about his pride in his wife, William added: "She's been amazing, she's been through so much in the last couple of years particularly. She was looking forward to the Italian trip a lot and I'm really glad it went really well." However, he revealed that while Kate will likely undertake similar trips abroad in the future, the family and staff are ensuring she is fit to do so. "Away trips like that take a lot out of you because you're on permanent receive and send the whole time, we have to balance that, make sure she's OK," he said.

Kate underwent treatment for cancer and is now in remission. After announcing her remission early last year, she has gradually resumed royal engagements.
