Prince Louis captured the hearts of royal watchers today as he stood in wonder at the RAF flypast during Trooping the Colour. The eight-year-old prince, the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, was seen leaning on the balcony for a better view as the Red Arrows flew overhead, trailing red, white, and blue smoke.
Royal Fans Delighted
Social media erupted with delight over the young prince's unguarded reaction. One fan wrote: "Prince Louis is just living his best life and I'm all for it!" Another commented: "Prince Louis will always be fascinated by the fly-past... A future fighter pilot in the making." A third added: "Prince Louis is an automatic meme generator."
Prince George's Growth Spurt
Many observers also noted that Prince George, 12, appears to have had a recent growth spurt, approaching the height of his parents. George, due to start secondary school in September, seems to have inherited the tall genes of Prince William (6ft 3in) and Catherine (5ft 9in).
The Royal Family on the Balcony
The Prince and Princess of Wales joined their three children, along with King Charles and Queen Camilla, on the royal balcony. Other attendees included the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
About Trooping the Colour
Trooping the Colour is a historic ceremony where regimental flags, or colours, were once paraded in front of soldiers for recognition. It has evolved into a celebration of the monarch's official birthday. This year, the colour trooped was the King's Colour of the Grenadier Guards, presented by the King earlier this week.
The ceremony is both a social and ceremonial event, with around 8,000 family members of guards and officers seated around Horse Guards Parade. In summer sunshine, King Charles inspected the troops from a carriage and later saluted as the colours were marched past.
