Prince Harry appeared visibly uncomfortable during a Channel 4 News interview when asked about his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was recently arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The Duke of Sussex, who was in Jordan to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, remained tight-lipped and avoided answering the question.
The interviewer acknowledged that Harry had requested not to be questioned about his family or the situation back in London, to avoid distracting from his work with the World Health Organisation and Gaza relief efforts. Despite this, the topic was raised, and Harry responded with a wry laugh, deflecting to the broader news cycle and the importance of focusing on the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Harry's team had explicitly asked that questions be limited to his trip to Jordan, fearing that any mention of Andrew would dominate headlines. During the interview, Harry made an emotional plea for the opening of medical aid corridors into Gaza, praising Jordan's 'moral leadership' and its role as a humanitarian hub for the Middle East.
The visit included stops at the Za'atari refugee camp and the World Central Kitchen headquarters, where Harry and Meghan highlighted efforts to provide millions of hot meals to those affected by the conflict. The British Ambassador to Jordan thanked the Sussexes for their support, emphasising the importance of their visit in drawing attention to the crisis.
