Man critical after Dublin city centre assault

A young man in his 20s is fighting for his life after a serious assault in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Sunday. The attack occurred on Hawkins Street at around 12.20am on 5 July 2026.

Victim in critical condition

The victim was rushed to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition. Gardaí have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Garda appeal for witnesses

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred on Hawkins Street, Dublin 2 at approximately 12.20am on Sunday, 5th July 2026. A man, aged in his 20s, was brought to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for serious injuries and he remains in a critical condition."

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in anyone who was in the vicinity of Hawkins Street between 12am and 12.30am on Sunday morning and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage.
