Prince George's strict new Eton rule will please William and Kate

Prince George has to follow a new strict rule at Eton College that will likely please his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales. The young prince, 13, started at the boarding school just weeks ago and is still adjusting to life living away from home.

While most people of George's age probably have smartphones, George has not had access to one. It is believed that he is not the only one at Eton, as the school has banned smartphones. Instead, the rules reportedly state that students can use basic "brick" phones for calls and texts, and have no internet access.

Parents welcome the phone decision

Melanie Sanderson, managing editor at The Good Schools Guide, told PEOPLE: "The phone decision was very much welcomed by parents, and the boys are so busy, they don't have time to be sat on their beds, scrolling TikTok."

This news is likely to be well-received by George's parents, who have purposely not given any of their young children phones. It is believed that they were considering giving George a brick phone for when he started boarding school, but have not confirmed whether or not they have done this.

William's earlier comments on phone access

Speaking during an interview with Brazilian television host Luciano Huck from the Domingão show last year, William said: "When George moves onto secondary school, maybe he'll have one with limited access."

When explaining that he does not want his children to have internet access, the prince said: "We talk to him (George) and explain why we don't think it's right. With full access, children end up seeing things on the internet that they shouldn't. But with restricted access, I think it's good for messaging."

George settles into Eton

When George started at Eton earlier this month, photographs of him in his uniform were published. It is now understood that the prince is being left to get on with his education.
