The standoff between King Charles and Prince Andrew over the latter's occupancy of Royal Lodge continues, with the monarch reportedly cutting off his brother's security detail in a bid to force him out. Andrew has refused to leave the 30-bedroom Windsor property, valued at £30 million, despite being offered Frogmore Cottage, which underwent a £2.4 million renovation in 2019.
With the King withdrawing private funding for security—costing an estimated £3 million annually—Prince Andrew may have found a loophole: a mobile security team as a compromise, according to an exclusive report. However, veteran royal biographer Robert Jobson believes the shamed royal is “doomed” and that “there is no reason for him to live there anymore”.
Jobson told Australian show Sunrise: “Charles has been trying to get him out for some time. … The roof's falling in and the king reckons, I suppose, that if he can get his brother out, he can actually rent the place out to some billionaire … that would bring in a lot of money to the royal coffers.”
The most likely alternative residence for Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson is Wood Farm, a five-bedroom home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. This aligns with King Charles’s wish to keep Andrew away from the public eye. The King is unlikely to offer an apartment in St James’s Palace in London, where Princess Beatrice resides.
