Montecito neighbours say 'Good riddance' to Harry and Meghan

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's neighbours in Montecito, California, have reportedly been jubilant following the news that the couple are leaving the area to relocate to the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have regularly been dubbed a "laughing stock" among those who live in the same area, are now planning to move back to Britain, six years after they left the country for a new life in America.

Move Planned for End of Month

Harry and Meghan's move will reportedly take place at the end of this month, with the couple finding a home in a non-royal residence outside of London. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who have been living in California for the last six years, have already been enrolled in British schools.

Now, as the latest developments emerge about their plans, Harry and Meghan's neighbours have issued a brutal verdict about their departure. Shop owners, dog walkers and other Montecito residents have criticised the couple for alienating themselves around the world, saying they have become a "laughing stock" and declaring: "Good riddance!". They also accused them of reportedly being the only celebrities in the area walking around with bodyguards.

Residents Share Their Views

A resident named Jennifer, who used to work at a store regularly visited by Meghan, accused the duchess of "stealing other people's ideas" as she shared her views on her departure. She told The Sun: "She became a laughing stock here because all she would do is steal other people's looks and ideas."

She added: "I feel sorry for them but hope they find happiness. I feel they have ostracised themselves here and abroad. I fear for their future."

Another member of staff at another store told the outlet: "I'm glad they're leaving. Good riddance. Meghan spoke about my favourite beach, Butterfly Beach, in her show and ruined it." They added: "That's the effect they had here in town. They're the only celebrities here who go around with bodyguards. Other A-listers just as famous and likely richer than them walk around casually like any normal person."

Status to Remain Unchanged

It is understood there will be no change to Harry and Meghan's role and status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family when they relocate to the UK. The King, who is still living with cancer, was first made aware of the move on Sunday, only three days before it was made public, but is understood to welcome the opportunity to see more of the family both in a private and personal capacity.

But their status will remain the same, with the couple not offered a "half-in-half-out" option regarding their roles. Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace made any statements about the bombshell move.
