Meghan Markle has been keeping a low profile since moving back to the UK alongside Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duchess of Sussex has been spotted out on a few occasions, including at a local pub with friends, and was reportedly seen at Soho Farmhouse. However, she has not been seen at any major events, unlike Prince Harry, who has made several appearances, including a recent one at the WellChild Awards in London.
Royal expert weighs in on Meghan's low-key profile
Speaking to host JJ Anisiobi on the Daily Express podcast, royal commentator Daisy McAndrew, who works for NBC News, was asked about Meghan's low-key profile. JJ put it to Daisy that Meghan's existence would amount to 'just going to Soho Farmhouse, another couple or three country pubs and staying at home... she's not going to attend any public events with Harry because she's going to fear people will boo her.'
The royal expert responded it was "strange" that the Duchess did not attend the WellChild Awards with her husband, despite it being "close to Harry's heart". She also made reference to whether or not Meghan is keen to change public opinion of her.
Meghan's business interests and public appearances
Ms McAndrew said: "I've always assumed that she does want to turn public opinion around, partly because she's now a businesswoman, and it's difficult to sell something which is very personal if people don't like you personally, so you kind of have to change their opinion of you. So, I thought there would be much more of a love-bombing effect."
When the topic of Meghan's appearances came up, and whether she will attend any events with Harry or if she would be "booed", the royal commentator said it depends on the event. "Depending on what the event is, she wouldn't be booed inside," McAndrew said. "But there are plenty of events that he [Prince Harry] will go to.
Invictus events as a safe space
"Invictus events, where she definitely wouldn't be booed. So, I would imagine that we'd see her at that sort of thing, testing the water."
After leaving the UK six years ago, the Sussexes have returned to stay in Britain for what is believed to be an "extended" period. While the family are keeping a low profile for the time being, Meghan has shared some insight into their new life on Instagram, including sweet clips of the children riding their bikes and going on countryside walks.
