Meghan Markle's UK acting comeback 'withdrawn' after backlash

Meghan Markle's acting career in the UK has been thrown into doubt after reports claimed her casting has been withdrawn. The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly in talks to return to acting, which would coincide with her relocation back to the UK, six years after leaving the country and moving to the US.

Casting reportedly axed after backlash

Prince Harry's wife was understood to be in early-stage discussions over a possible role in a third series of Guy Ritchie's Netflix hit The Gentlemen, Deadline reported. The show, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, has yet to be renewed for a third season.

But now a journalist has claimed the casting has been axed due to the backlash in the UK. Former editor in chief of Vanity Fair, Tina Brown, claimed on X: "I learned this morning the casting of Meghan in The Gentlemen has been withdrawn. The backlash in the UK was so intense that it became untenable. This does not bode well for Meghan's acting comeback in the UK."
