Meghan Markle has been spotted at pubs in the Cotswolds on three occasions since she and Prince Harry made the area their home, with the sightings pointing to her struggle for work rather than a simple fondness for pub grub.
The Duchess of Sussex has largely kept a low profile in recent weeks, while Harry has fronted several events, including an AI speech in New York, the Invictus Spirit Awards and the WellChild Awards. Meghan, meanwhile, has been seen at The Three Horseshoes with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, and at The Falkland Arms in Great Tew with Kelly Zajfen, before returning there with Harry for a photographed afternoon date.
A far cry from Montecito
Her life in the UK contrasts sharply with her previous routine in Montecito, California, where her evenings were filled with exclusive local events and high-profile red carpets. Her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has been cancelled.
British red carpet organisers have instead invited Prince William and Princess Catherine to events, and reports of a potential return to acting in season three of The Gentleman were reportedly withdrawn after backlash.
Royal Collection Trust calendar overshadows As Ever
King Charles reiterated the couple's status as non-working royals, and reports suggest the As Ever brand is struggling to maintain momentum. The release of Meghan's Holiday Advent Calendar, priced at £112 ($148), was overshadowed by Buckingham Palace, which unveiled its own Advent calendar from The Royal Collection Trust, with prices starting at £25.
The Royal Christmas shop is also selling £5 Buckingham Palace chocolate coins, £7 honey from Balmoral, a £12 hand cream and a £43 bag charm. To make her return worthwhile, Meghan would need to resume charity work in the UK and make a public appearance alongside Harry.
