Meghan Markle is making a mistake in how she is handling the fallout of the Thomas Markle crisis, according to a royal commentator. The Duchess of Sussex is dealing with the aftermath of allegations that her father, Thomas, possessed child sex abuse images.
Thomas Markle is under police and FBI investigation over allegations that child abuse images were found in his home in the Philippines, which he strongly denies. In response, Meghan issued a statement expressing her distress and explaining that she had distanced her family from him years ago solely to protect her children.
Concerns Over Team Sussex
On the Daily Express's weekly podcast Royals Uncensored, co-host Carole Malone claimed the Duchess has been making one big mistake in her handling of the crisis so far.
"I think what is more damaging to her than anything else is letting Team Sussex talk for her," she explained. "Because I think they do more harm than good. They say something and then, of course, the media is on it and then we look into it and then we find out that that's full of holes as well."
Malone went on to claim that certain elements of the timeline don't quite make sense.
Questions Over the Timeline
She said: "It's worth noting that Meghan has apologised to all the children that her father may or may not have harmed. Now if she cares about that, why didn't she care enough to make this news public and to do something about it? Which makes me believe that we are not hearing the truth about all of this from the Royals here.
"We have to ask: what did Harry know? When did he know it? Did the other members of the Royal Family know anything about this? Because I don't believe the Met police can't locate a security officer who was looking after a member of the Royal Family."
She added: "To me it just feels like everything that could identify what went on back then is being...it's being hidden."
Unidentified Officer and Netflix Comments
The mystery officer who issued the advice to Meghan has not been identified, and a source claims their identity may never be revealed. "Meghan Markle may have liked the officer and not want to get him or her into trouble," the source told the Daily Mail.
Meghan allegedly wanted to make the news public in 2019. However, she was allegedly told by the officer, "Leave it with us; we'll investigate it".
Malone also questioned why Meghan spoke positively about her father in a Netflix documentary with her husband, Prince Harry. She said: "In 2020 she made this Netflix documentary about being a daddy's girl and how fantastic her father had been. Well would you say that about a bloke you just found out was as paedophile? I don't think you would, I wouldn't, I just wouldn't talk about my dad."
The investigations into Markle, 82, continue.
