Industry sources have dismissed claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to Britain for Meghan Markle’s acting career. The Duchess of Sussex had reportedly been in talks to return to acting, which would coincide with her relocation back to the UK, six years after leaving the country and moving to the US.
Reports of a dropped role
Prince Harry’s wife was understood to be in early-stage discussions over a possible role in a third series of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit The Gentlemen, Deadline reported. But new reports claimed that Meghan’s casting has been dropped due to the backlash in the UK.
While the Sussexes’ return to the UK had been linked to Meghan’s possible return to acting, industry sources said “there’s no chance” that that was the reason.
Industry sources respond
They told Sky News: “You don't uproot your family for one role in a show. There's no chance the reason they're coming back is TV roles like The Gentlemen.”
