Meghan Markle prepared for UK return 'challenge' with new mindset
Meghan Markle prepared for UK 'challenge' with new mindset

Meghan Markle prepared herself for the “challenge” of moving back to the UK by developing a new mindset, according to a source who knows the Duchess.

At the end of August, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, moved back to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It is the family’s first time living back in Harry’s home country since 2020, when the royal couple famously quit royal duty and moved to the US.

Low-profile strategy

While the Duke of Sussex seems to have embraced the move back to Britain and has made numerous public engagements, the same cannot be said for his wife Meghan, who is keeping a low profile. Although Meghan has been seen out and about privately, and has now attended some public engagements with Harry this week in Nottingham, she has not attended any large-scale public engagements in London. This is believed to be a deliberate move to create “more interest” in her.

Meghan is reportedly adopting this low-profile strategy as she knew that moving back to the UK would be a “challenge”. A source said that the prospect of it being a challenge doesn’t scare Meghan, who is ready to “stand up and fight back”.

Source on Meghan's mindset

The source told Closer magazine: “When she does start stepping out more, the hope is that she’ll have built up enough anticipation that people will be excited to see her, rather than having her everywhere right away and the public getting sick of her.”

The source continued: “Meghan is very competitive; she loves taking on a challenge, and she’s coming back to the U.K. with the mindset that she can turn things around and win people over. She’s heard all the predictions that she’ll never be welcomed in England again, but she’s refusing to just roll over and accept that as the truth.

“There was a time when all the hostility she’s facing across the pond would have taken her down, but she’s stronger than she was six years ago, and she’s insisting that she’s ready to stand up and fight back.”

Nottingham engagements

While Meghan has only attended a handful of smaller engagements this week with her husband, it is believed to be the start of her taking on more public-facing appearances in the UK. On Thursday, the Duchess joined her husband Harry for three engagements in Nottingham. This included a visit to The Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann’s, Nottingham. This was originally set up to give young people access to music and recording facilities, and has been visited by the Duke before.

The couple then visited two other charities that help the Nottingham community in various ways. Meghan was all smiles during the visit to Nottingham as she stepped out with her husband.

The latest engagements could make it more likely that the Duchess will attend more public events. It is important to note that Harry and Meghan are carrying out these engagements on their own and do not represent the Royal Family. This is because Harry and Meghan quit royal duties in 2020, and their status as non-working royals has not changed since their return to the UK. This was made clear by King Charles shortly after his youngest son returned to Britain.

Harry and Meghan’s long-term plan for life in the UK is still unclear, although it is believed they could be here for some time. This is because they have enrolled their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, in British schools.
