Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been married to Prince Harry for nearly eight years, tying the knot in 2018 after her divorce from Trevor Engelson. During her recent tour of Australia, she gave a bride-to-be some candid advice about marriage.
The Duchess, 44, was photographed speaking to a woman named Ellie, wishing her 'a lifetime of love' as she prepared to get married. Meghan, who has been with Harry for a decade, said: 'I just wanted to say congratulations on your wedding. Enjoy the wedding, but it's more about the marriage... Sending you love all over the world. Your dad is awesome.'
Meghan and Harry met ten years ago, and in May 2018, over 27 million viewers watched as Meghan walked down the aisle of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The couple has since had two children: Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
The former actress shared this advice last week during her visit to Bondi Beach, Sydney, as part of a four-day trip to Australia with Harry. The sweet moment has been praised on social media.
One fan wrote: 'This is a nice thing to say... She made some random lady's day, made her dad feel special.' Another shared: 'That was the cutest greeting.'
The Duchess met Harry through a mutual friend while she was in London for Wimbledon. They began dating in 2016, two years after Meghan's divorce from film producer Trevor Engelson, to whom she was married for three years. Despite her first marriage ending, Meghan's union with Harry has grown stronger since 2018, and in 2020, they made the significant decision to move to the United States and step back from royal duties.
In her Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, Meghan revealed that she and Harry first said 'I love you' on their third date during a camping trip to Botswana. Their journey has been far from straightforward, marked by their decision to leave royal life and build a new home in Montecito. Now together for nearly a decade, the couple will celebrate six years of marriage on May 19. Along the way, they have signed major media deals and participated in high-profile interviews, drawing both attention and controversy.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Bondi Beach on the final day of their 2026 Australia tour to meet first responders and survivors of the December 2025 Bondi Beach terror attack, along with representatives of the Sydney Jewish Museum.
