An insider has claimed Meghan Markle is 'furious' and has 'no intention of allowing the Palace to push her aside' following a recent Buckingham Palace statement reaffirming the couple's position as non-working royals.
Palace statement sparks surprise
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have just returned to the UK, but Royal Family tensions appear to remain high. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have been caught off guard by the statement, issued on behalf of King Charles, clarifying that the Sussexes remained non-working royals.
A spokesperson for the couple said they were "surprised" to see the letter and "were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance."
William and Kate's alleged role
An insider has reportedly claimed that Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, played an important role in the Palace's decision to make the Sussexes' position clear - a statement that has allegedly left Meghan "furious."
As reported by Heat World, the insider said: "The latest statement from the Palace was very much pushed by William and Kate – and Meghan knows that."
The insider added: "The Waleses have felt totally blindsided by the way Harry and Meghan announced their arrival back to the UK, and with everything that’s happened over the last few years, they just don’t trust them. There is nothing new in the statement, but William felt it was necessary to remind them where the lines are drawn before anything happens."
"Meghan is furious over it. She has no intention of allowing the Palace to push her aside or treat her as though she is no longer important, especially by William and Kate. She won’t let them stand in her way."
Return to the UK
Last month, Meghan, Harry and their two children made a surprise return to the UK, with plans to live in Britain for an extended period. Their children are now being schooled in Britain. They arrived back in the UK on August 26 and landed at Birmingham Airport following six years of living in Montecito in California.
Meghan has since shared a glimpse of her family's life since moving back to the UK on social media, where the family can be seen enjoying countryside walks, an evening by the fire, and a clip showing her children riding their bikes in the countryside as deer can be spotted in the distance.
Meghan's close friend Kelly McKee Zajfe also came to visit. Kelly posted photos on Instagram of her time in England with Meghan and Prince Harry, and her baby son, Jack, who was born back in March. Princess Lilibet also made an appearance in one of the photos.
Kelly captioned the post: "Having the best time. There’s something so special about getting a taste of this magical place with my bestie, and having my sweet Jack along for the adventure."
She added: "GB you’ve been so good to us. We’re leaving with full hearts and definitely leaving a piece of ours here. To everyone we’ve met or bumped into, thank you for being so loving to my friend. It’s been beautiful to witness. She missed you too!"
Last week, the Duchess of Sussex was spotted on her first public outing since the move back to the UK. She was spotted in the Cotswolds at a local pub with friends TV show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife and Arrested Development star, Portia de Rossi. Meghan was also reportedly spotted at Soho Farmhouse earlier this month. She has not yet made any official public appearances since her return to the UK.
