Lord Ivar Mountbatten reveals Lady Louise's busy life in rare insight
Lord Ivar Mountbatten gives rare insight into Lady Louise

Lord Ivar Mountbatten, a distant royal relative and godfather to Lady Louise Windsor, has offered a rare glimpse into her life behind the scenes, revealing that their relationship is largely conducted over text messages due to her demanding schedule.

Lady Louise, who graduated from St Andrews University this summer with an English degree, is one of King Charles's nieces. Despite being part of the Royal Family, she does not use a royal title, allowing her to lead a relatively ordinary life outside of royal events.

Godfather's Insight into Lady Louise

Lord Ivar Mountbatten, the great-nephew of Lord Louis Mountbatten, Prince Philip's maternal uncle, is particularly close to Lady Louise's parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. He shared with Hello! magazine that while he sees Edward and Sophie often, his connection with Louise is mostly through texting.

Lord Ivar said: "Edward and Sophie are clearly good friends, and quite often when Sophie comes down to Devon, she will stay here with us. She always used to stay at Bridwell, but she's also stayed in the farmhouse. Then, in the winter, we go up and stay with them for weekends. Lady Louise and I text a lot, but that's about it. Young people are always very busy!"

Graduation and Education

Lady Louise completed her four-year English degree at St Andrews University, the alma mater of the Prince and Princess of Wales. She attended the graduation ceremony in the university's Younger Hall, where she took part in the traditional "capping" ritual, kneeling on a cushion in the centre of the stage.

She wore formal attire for the occasion, including a black skirt, a crisp white shirt, black heels, and her graduation robes. Louise chose to study in Scotland after completing her A Levels, where courses typically span four years instead of the three standard in England and Wales.

Royal Status and Future

Although she regularly attends set-piece royal events such as Trooping the Colour and the Royal Family's Christmas and Easter celebrations, Lady Louise is not expected to become a working royal. Her parents, Edward and Sophie, decided not to give Louise and her brother, James, Earl of Wessex, royal titles, despite both being working royals themselves.
