Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in September for a string of engagements, including the annual WellChild Awards, and will reportedly be offered a room at Buckingham Palace by his father, King Charles. The offer is seen as a significant olive branch following Harry's visit earlier this month, which included Meghan Markle and their children meeting the King and Queen Camilla.
Harry was previously offered a room at Buckingham Palace for his visit at the start of July, but the offer was revoked after it was accepted at short notice. Sources have now shared that Harry is set to accept the offer well in advance, as per The Sun. It has previously been said that Harry must give the Royal Household 28 days' notice of his arrival in the UK.
It remains unknown whether Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will join him in September. Harry spent one week in the UK this month, returning to the US with his family on July 14. The exact date for this year's WellChild Awards has not yet been released.
Royal Experts Comment on Improving Relations
Royal author Robert Jobson commented on the gesture, stating: “Obviously there does appear to be a sense that it’s a gradual process and things are improving.”
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, also spoke about Harry's relationship with his father: “Harry realises it is a very generous offer by his father and needs to respect that this time and be gracious about it. This is a chance perhaps for Harry to show his father he knows how to behave.”
Harry's Previous Visit and Upcoming Schedule
Harry's July visit marked the first time the Sussexes had travelled together to the UK in months. He is now expected to return in September for the WellChild Awards, an event he has supported for several years.
