King Charles made a “deliberate” move this week as his younger son, Prince Harry, relocated to the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Britain on Thursday, six years after leaving for a new life in America and just over a week after announcing their decision.
On the same day, Buckingham Palace issued a major announcement about the King and Queen’s upcoming autumn plans. Charles and Camilla will head on an “autumn tour” from Tuesday, October 27, to Wednesday, November 4.
Tour details revealed
According to the Palace, the autumn tour will “celebrate communities, cultures and nature within the Commonwealth family”. The King and Queen will visit Antigua and Barbuda to coincide with their attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, which takes place in early November.
The King, Head of the Commonwealth, will also visit the Bahamas and Guyana, at the invitation of the country’s president and at the request of the UK Government. Charles’s visit to Guyana will mark 60 years of bilateral relations between the UK and the country.
Royal expert weighs in
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News: “The news of the King and Queen’s tour was obviously, in my view, deliberately announced to coincide with their arrival.”
He added: “As it should have been! The monarchy’s link with the Commonwealth is uniquely precious. Harry and Meghan were once to be pivotal links with the Commonwealth.”
However, Fitzwilliams noted that the couple “trashed the institution” in a “shameful” manner. He said: “They will be a thorn in the side of the Royal Family. How it pans out will be anthropologically fascinating.”
