King and Queen lead royals at Festival of Remembrance

The King and Queen led senior members of the Royal Family for an evening of reflection and remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall on Saturday.

Charles and Camilla were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales for the Royal British Legion's (RBL) annual Festival of Remembrance, which honours those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts both past and present.

The audience rose to its feet as the royal couple entered the iconic concert hall to a fanfare of trumpets before taking their seats in the royal box.

Royal Attendees and Attire

Kate brought a touch of elegance to the occasion in an Alessandra Rich dress, accessorised with the Irish Guards regimental brooch and earrings which once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II. She also wore a handmade poppy, adding a personal touch to her remembrance attire.

Among the other members of the Royal Family in attendance were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham also attended alongside his wife, Marie-France van Heel. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be marking Remembrance events privately this year.

Event Highlights and Broadcast

The annual Festival of Remembrance brings together members of the royal family, serving military personnel, veterans and their families to honour those who have lost their lives in service and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by Britain's Armed Forces.

Organised by the Royal British Legion, the event features music, personal testimonies and moments of reflection. This year's festival marks the 35th anniversary of the end of the First Gulf War and 15 years since the end of British military operations in Iraq under Operation Telic, with veterans sharing their personal stories and experiences of serving in the conflicts.

The King was announced as a patron of the Royal British Legion in 2024 and will lead the nation in a two-minute silence at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday. The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance will be broadcast at 9pm on BBC One later on Saturday.
