Princess Catherine exchanged a four-word question with Queen Camilla during last year's Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London, a lip reader has revealed.
The pair observed the wreath-laying ceremony side by side from the balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, which overlooks the Cenotaph. They watched as wreaths were placed by King Charles, his heir Prince William, and other members of the royal family, alongside leading politicians and high commissioners representing Commonwealth nations.
A Private Moment of Amusement
During the ceremony, the two royals appeared to share a light-hearted exchange. Lip-reader Jeremy Freeman revealed that the Princess of Wales, smiling, turned to the Queen and asked: "Did you see it?"
The Queen responded with a wry smile before quickly covering her mouth with her copy of the order of service as she offered a short answer to the Princess. What exactly the pair had spotted during the ceremony remains unknown, though Catherine continued sharing amusement with Camilla afterwards.
Regaining Composure
The royal pair eventually regained their composure following the moment and continued to observe the rest of the service. The exchange came as both women found it difficult to conceal their emotions during the commemorations.
Queen Camilla and King Charles are both expected to appear at this year's ceremony, which takes place on Sunday, November 8, 2026. The appearance comes just days after the monarch and his wife returned from a nine-day tour of the Caribbean, during which the King faced difficult questions about the future of the Commonwealth.
