Kate stuns in green for Oman state visit with William

The Princess of Wales stepped out in a forest-green coat as she joined Prince William and the Royal Family in Windsor to welcome Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman on the first day of a historic three-day state visit.

Catherine, 44, wore a rich green shade that features on the Omani national flag, where it symbolises the country's fertile land and greenery, suggesting the colour choice may have been a thoughtful nod to the occasion. She completed the ensemble with coordinating green millinery, classic black court heels and a quilted Chanel handbag with the French fashion house's gold interlocking logo and chain handle. A glittering brooch with an emerald-green drop adorned her coat, though details of the jewellery remain unconfirmed.

Diplomatic dressing tradition

The Princess has become known for using her wardrobe to convey meaningful messages, with small details often carrying significance during major royal engagements. State visits offer an opportunity to embrace this tradition, with sartorial choices frequently attracting as much attention as the ceremonial proceedings.

Despite a gloomy weather forecast, crowds lined the streets of Windsor for a display of royal pomp and pageantry.

First Omani state visit since 1982

The occasion marked the first state visit by a Sultan of Oman to the UK since March 1982, when the late Queen Elizabeth II hosted Sultan Qaboos bin Said. King Charles and Queen Camilla are welcoming Sultan Haitham, who previously met the King for tea and a private meeting at Windsor Castle in July 2025.

Diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations stretch back more than two centuries, with the countries having celebrated the 225th anniversary of their bilateral agreement last year.
