During the state banquet for US President Donald Trump, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, reportedly handled a 'childish comment' from the President with such poise that it forced him into a 'subservient' position, according to a body language expert.
President Trump, who described Kate as 'radiant' in his speech, appeared mesmerised by the Princess. She wore a champagne gold lace evening coat dress with her hair loose and the Lover's Knot tiara.
Body language specialist Bruce Durham from Huddle Culture analysed a moment during the dinner where Trump seemed to make an impish remark. Durham noted that Kate's regal and upright posture made her the 'alpha' in the interaction, while Trump adopted a 'tortoise-like' physicality, retracting his neck and raising his shoulders.
'This is important because when is Donald Trump never the alpha?' Durham said. 'There is something going on here in that either Kate has an effect on him, or there is a narrative in his head which results in him raising his shoulders, retracting his head, with Kate the alpha, Donald the beta.'
The expert added that Trump's subservient posture is rarely seen, highlighting Kate's powerful presence. The visit marks Trump's second official invitation to the UK, with the Royal Family reinforcing strong bilateral relations.
