The Duchess of Sussex, seven months pregnant, has returned to the United States for a five-day break in New York City, where close friends hosted a baby shower. The trip, privately funded, marks her first visit to the city since marrying Prince Harry last spring.
According to a source quoted by Harper’s Bazaar, the visit was a chance to catch up with friends and enjoy a city she loves, as it will be the last time many see her before the baby is born. Meghan was accompanied by a large security detail, including British protection officers and US State Department officials.
The baby shower reportedly took place on Tuesday, February 19, at The Mark, a luxury hotel on the Upper East Side. Decorations included pink, blue, and yellow roses, orange and yellow tulips, and a giant orange tree, possibly symbolising good fortune for Chinese New Year. A crib was also delivered to the venue.
Approximately 15 guests attended, including former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer and designer Misha Nonoo. Jessica Mulroney, Meghan's unofficial stylist, is said to have planned the event. Actress Priyanka Chopra was reportedly expected to fly in from London Fashion Week.
Following the New York trip, Meghan and Prince Harry are scheduled to visit Morocco from February 23 for a three-day official tour, supporting programmes such as Education for All, which provides housing near secondary schools for girls from rural communities.
