Prince Harry's hopes for royal reconciliation could be threatened when he returns to the UK with his family later this month, according to reports. The Duke of Sussex is bringing his family back to Britain after stepping down as a senior working royal six years ago and moving to the US.
New book by Diana's brother
Charles Spencer, the late Princess Diana's brother, is set to publish a new book about his sister that has already caused concern within the Palace. Harry and his family will reportedly stay at Earl Spencer's Althorp Estate temporarily while waiting to move into their new UK home.
The book, titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, is due to be published on September 22, just a few weeks after the Sussexes' return. It is understood that while Harry may have discussed the book with his uncle, he has reportedly not contributed to its content in any way.
Potential impact on family relations
A source told The Sun on Sunday: "The book and its timing are certain to ruffle some royal feathers. Harry and Meghan could even be with Earl Spencer when the book is published."
"Given that it's likely to be critical of senior royals, this could be a blot on Harry's homecoming and peaceful relations with his family," the source added.
It is understood there will be no change to Harry and Meghan's status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family. The Sussex children are expected to start at their new schools in early September, with no photographs of them on their first day or birthdays, as is the case for working royals.
Media restrictions and family reactions
British media organisations have been instructed by the press regulator not to reveal the location of the family's new home or the children's school. The Prince and Princess of Wales have not reacted publicly to the news. William, the future king, remains estranged from his brother following Harry's controversial claims about the Royal Family after Megxit.
The Sussexes are keeping their homes in Montecito, California, and Portugal, while Meghan will continue to run her lifestyle brand, As Ever, from their new base.
