Prince Harry's "deafening" silence over explosive new claims against the Royal Family has been branded a total "act of war" by royal commentator Mark Dolan. Speaking on the Daily Expresso podcast, Dolan claimed the Prince of Wales has been left "absolutely furious" and "disgusted" by a bombshell new memoir written by their uncle, Earl Charles Spencer.
Book takes aim at King Charles
The book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, takes aim at King Charles with a series of staggering claims regarding the fallout from Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997. Among the book's most damning accounts is a fierce row between Spencer and Charles over whether young William and Harry should walk behind their mother's coffin.
Spencer alleges that an enraged Charles barked: "Rest assured, we'll forget her soon enough." However, Buckingham Palace took the rare step of hitting back at the allegation.
A spokesperson said: "While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."
Harry's silence draws heavy fire
Spencer further claims that when Charles broke the news of Diana's death, he sounded "giddily elated - like a lottery winner," suggesting the tragedy created an opening for Charles to marry Camilla Parker Bowles. While William has reportedly rallied to his father's side following the allegations, Harry's decision to stay tight-lipped about the book has drawn heavy fire from Dolan.
"Harry, on the other hand, deafening in his silence," Dolan told the podcast. "And I've got to tell you that Harry's silence in regard to this book is an act of war."
Dolan argued that by remaining silent, the Duke is effectively backing his uncle's assault on the monarch. "The book contains these allegations, and Harry says nothing. You can only interpret, therefore, that he supports the content of the book," Dolan said. "It means that he supports an attack on his father, a man that he's trying to build bridges with."
William's relationship with uncle in tatters
According to Dolan, William's anger over the memoir's contents has left his relationship with his uncle in tatters. "So my royal sources tell me that William is absolutely furious about the book, that he doesn't have a good relationship with his uncle, and he's firmly on his father's side," Dolan said.
Harry has also not publicly confirmed whether he supports his uncle's claims, with his silence alone not proving endorsement, and reports of William's private reaction remain unverified. The explosive drama comes as Spencer's memoir threatens to throw light on Diana's final days, opening fresh wounds almost three decades after her death.
