Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly already secured their new home for their return to the UK, and one place they likely will not be calling home again is Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The couple met in 2016, married in 2018 and left their royal roles two years later in 2020.
While living in the UK, they called Frogmore Cottage their home. The cottage was also offered to Prince Andrew by King Charles, who reportedly responded by remarking that the house is “not grand enough for a prince”. The Sussexes also lived in Nottingham Cottage for a time, according to House and Garden.
New tenants at Frogmore Cottage
In autumn 2020 Frogmore Cottage gained some new tenants - Prince Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. According to The Sun, Meghan and Harry's possessions were cleared out of Frogmore Cottage in the night to make way for the new tenants.
King Charles reportedly welcomes the opportunity to see his family more.
Plans for the UK return
Meghan and Harry have reportedly already secured their property for when they arrive back in the UK. They will live in a non-royal residence outside of London and have already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools.
The move is expected to happen within the next week in order to allow the children to start school in time for the new term. It is believed that the Cotswolds and the Northampton area, close to the Spencer family estate, could be where the family will set up their UK home, the BBC reports.
Recent UK visit
The Sussexes visited the UK for a five-day trip in July to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham in 2027. The couple brought their two children with them, and the whole family was hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House.
The private meeting was the first time the king had seen his grandchildren in four years. According to reports, Prince Harry did not meet with his brother, Prince William, while he was in the UK.
