Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the UK and are set to lean on a secret squad of friends for support as they ease back into British life. The Sussexes are expected to live in a private, non-royal residence located outside of London with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and five-year-old Princess Lilibet already enrolled to start at a school in September.
Trusted inner circle
It is reported that Harry and Meghan will have a few trusted acquaintances by their side to make the move a bit easier. The couple moved to California in March 2020 after stepping back from their roles as senior working members of the Royal Family. Although King Charles is believed to welcome their return to the UK from a personal perspective, it has been confirmed that Harry and Meghan will not return to official royal duties.
As reported by People, while the Sussexes' exact home and the location of their children's school remain unknown, they are expected to maintain close ties with a number of key British connections. Among them is Harry's uncle, Charles Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana.
Family and friends
The 62-year-old has remained a staunch defender of Harry and even offered him accommodation at Althorp during his last visit. He also publicly defended the prince during his legal battles against the tabloid press, including labelling the comments of a Daily Mail columnist as "pathetic".
Harry also remains close with his cousin, Eugenie, despite the princess being settled in Portugal. The Sussexes have a holiday home in the country and regularly stay in touch with her family. Elsewhere in Harry's inner circle is Charlie van Straubenzee, whom Harry has known since his school days. Both JJ Chalmers and David Wiseman, who will be working with the prince ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, also remain part of the group.
Meghan's UK contacts
Meanwhile, author Lindsay Jill Roth confirmed her friendship with the prince, explaining: "We haven't always lived in the same place at the same time, but we find ourselves connected through the same interests, or we'll be thinking the same thing at the same time and message each other about it."
"We laugh a lot. There's just always been that level of support for each other. When you find someone that you are just 100% yourself with, it's rare."
Meghan Markle also has contacts in the UK, including fashion designer Misha Nonoo. She is also close with Soho House consultant Markus Anderson and PR professional Lucy Fraser.
