Harry and Meghan plotted UK return - 3 missed signs

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to land in the UK before the end of the month. While the announcement surprised some, royal fans have identified three key moments that hinted at the couple's eventual return.

The couple quit their royal roles in 2020 and have since lived mostly in Montecito, California. From past interviews to events as recent as last month, the signs of their return are now clearer.

Harry's desire to mend ties with King Charles

Prince Harry has been working on repairing his strained relationship with his father, King Charles, for over a year. He first publicly mentioned this in an interview with the BBC last May.

In that interview, he said: "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious." He also spoke about missing the UK, adding: "I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done... and I think that it's really quite sad that I won't be able to show my children my homeland."

In July, Harry and Charles were joined by Meghan, Archie, Lilibet and Queen Camilla for a family meeting, marking the first time the King had seen his grandchildren since 2022.

Harry's letter about Britain

Ahead of Remembrance Day last November, Harry wrote an emotional letter expressing his love for his home country and the "things that make us British". In it, he spoke of his pride at fighting for his country and warned how easily veterans can be forgotten "once the uniform comes off".

In a personal 647-word piece titled "The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British – By Prince Harry", the duke acknowledged that although he 'currently' lives in the US, he reflected that "Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for".

Introducing Archie and Lilibet to their heritage

Harry has spoken about wanting his young children, Archie and Lilibet, to know more about their British heritage. Lilibet was born in the US and has only made two trips to the UK in her life, reports The Mirror.

Archie was born in the UK but was just eight months old when the Sussexes quit their royal roles in January 2020. He also made trips to England in 2022 and July 2026 with his parents and sister to reconnect with the country of his birth.

A friend of Harry's told the Daily Mail that Harry was "very sad" Archie and Lilibet are "missing out on life with the rest of their family".
