Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have departed their Sydney retreat in the early hours of the morning, concluding the final leg of their Australian tour. The couple had spent time in Melbourne and Canberra before arriving in Sydney, where Meghan attended a three-day wellness retreat called "Her Best Life" as a guest speaker.
During their Sydney visit, Harry and Meghan met survivors and responders of the Bondi Beach terror attack, which occurred on 14 December and is considered the worst in Australia's history, with 15 fatalities. Survivor Jessica Chapnik Kahn described the meeting as an "honour", emphasising the importance of addressing hate as a global issue.
The couple also joined members of the Invictus Games community on a boat ride around Sydney Harbour. Their tour included a series of philanthropic, charity, and private engagements, though specific details of other events were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, the future queen, has arrived in Sydney to resume her studies at the University of Sydney after an Easter break. The 22-year-old is pursuing a bachelor's degree in social sciences and is unlikely to meet the Sussexes as she returns to her private academic life.
King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Australia in 2024 for a six-day tour, the King's first since becoming monarch, which included a continuation of his cancer treatment. There have been calls for Prince William and Kate to undertake a similar trip, with the Princess of Wales expressing interest in bringing their children to Australia.
Harry last saw his father, King Charles, in September for a brief meeting. Reports suggest he hopes to reunite with the King in the UK over the summer, depending on the status of his security arrangements.
