The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bringing their family to the UK but there is someone who will not be joining them, according to reports. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world earlier this week when they announced plans to relocate to Britain.
Harry and Meghan will live in a non-royal residence outside of London when they move back to the UK and have already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools. Their move comes after the duke and duchess took their children to see their grandfather, the King, for the first time in four years at his Highgrove home in July. New reports claimed that while the Sussexes will be bringing their two dogs, Mia and Pula, with them, they’ll be leaving their beloved chickens in Montecito, California.
Chickens Featured in Netflix and Instagram
The rescued chickens have featured in their Netflix docuseries and have made a number of appearances on the duchess’s Instagram account. Just earlier this year, in April, Meghan proudly showed her chickens in a series of videos she posted on her social media. Meghan was joined by LA chocolatier, Compartes, with whom she had partnered for her brand’s Mother’s Day collection.
In one of the two short clips, Meghan can be heard saying: “When the chocolate man comes to see the chickens. Compartes is here,” She says, before showing one of her hens. In a quick moment, Princess Lilibet could be seen wearing a pink dress and playing by the chicken coop, and saying an inaudible phrase to her mother, who replies: “Thanks sweetheart.”
Staff to Tend to Chickens
Hello! Magazine claimed the Sussexes’ staff will be tending to their chickens across the pond. It is understood there will be no change to Harry and Meghan’s role and status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family.
The Sussex children are expected to start at their new schools in early September. There will be no photographs of the children when they start school, and on their birthdays, as for working royals, it is understood. British media organisations have been instructed by the press regulator not to reveal the location of their new family home nor the children’s school.
No Public Reaction from Wales
The Prince and Princess of Wales have not reacted publicly to the news. William – the future king – is estranged from his brother following Harry’s controversial claims about the Royal Family in the wake of Megxit. The Sussexes are keeping their homes in Montecito, California, and Portugal, while the duchess will continue to run her lifestyle brand, As Ever, from their new base.
