Royal commentator Jennie Bond has condemned the ongoing dispute between King Charles and Prince Harry as 'petty' and 'unbecoming,' following reports that Buckingham Palace withdrew an offer for Harry to stay at the palace during his UK visit. Speaking on GB News, Bond criticised both sides for squabbling over accommodation details, arguing that the palace could easily prepare a room on short notice.
Revoked Invitation Sparks Controversy
Prince Harry arrived in the UK on Tuesday to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, but his planned stay at Buckingham Palace was cancelled. A statement from Harry's spokesperson confirmed that the Duke had formally accepted the accommodation offer over the weekend after arranging alternative security for his family, only for the palace to withdraw it, citing a judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case. Bond remarked: 'No one's going to believe that someone can't get a bedroom ready at the palace because he said he would come, then he wouldn't come. They don't need that many days' notice, do they?'
Feud Overshadows Invictus Visit
Bond expressed concern that the dispute would overshadow Harry's visit and the Invictus Games, noting that the root issue was the lack of security provision for the Prince and his family. 'It has descended into farce. It's become extraordinarily petty and silly. It's unbecoming from both sides,' she said. Harry was seen in central London on Tuesday, but his current whereabouts remain undisclosed. The Invictus Games countdown event continues despite the controversy.
