George William Askell, aged 77, of Tudor Grange, died peacefully on 17th July 2026. Husband of the late Pauline, dad of Michael and Jillian, father-in-law of Cheryl and Sean, grandad of Isabella, Kate, Flynn, Imogen, Seth and William. Service at West Road Crematorium on 27th July at 3pm.

Kenny (Barney) Barnes, aged 65, of Pelaw, died suddenly in Turkey on 2nd July 2026. Much-loved dad of Lianne, Lauren, Jordan and Nathan, adored grandad of Ollie, George and Sofia, brother of Terrina. Service at Saltwell Crematorium on 30th July at 12pm, with interment at Saltwell Cemetery. Donations to British Heart Foundation.

Maureen Broatch (nee Hymers), aged 85, of Jesmond, died peacefully on 22nd June 2026. Wife of David (Davy), mam of Sharon and the late Deb, grandma of Jordan, Jack, Harry and the late Jessica. A private funeral has taken place.

John Aidan Carr, aged 90, of Morpeth, died peacefully in hospital on 7th July. Husband of Jennifer (nee Hawkes), dad of Hilary and Ian, father-in-law of Caroline, grandad of Tori, Jess, Arran, Macy, Ellis and Ava. Service at Northumberland Woodland Crematorium, Felton on 30th July at 12.30pm. Donations to British Heart Foundation.

James Michael Carver, brother of Lorraine, died. Reunited with wife Sheila and daughter Cheryl.

Ethel Colegate, aged 90, of Chapel House, died peacefully on 16th July. Wife of the late Malcolm, mam of Denise and Gary, nanna of Rebecca, Adam, Abigail and Michael, great-nanna of Nicky. Service at St. John Vianneys R.C. Church on 30th July at 10.30am, followed by cremation at West Road Crematorium. Donations to Alzheimer's Society.

Lynda Rose (Grieve) Crilly, aged 76, died peacefully at home on 13th July 2026. Wife of Patrick, mam of Paul and Joanne, mother-in-law of Karen and Grahame, mommar of Oscar and Lylah, sister of Peter. Requiem mass at St Peters RC Church Low Fell on 28th July at 11.45am, cremation at Saltwell Crematorium. Donations to Maggies.

Robert Allan Grayson (Bob) Crosby, aged 90, of Morpeth, former school master and football reporter, died peacefully in hospital on 11th July. Husband of Judith, dad of Martin and Stephen, grandpa of Maddy, Ben, Millie, Ava and Rebecca. Service at Northumberland Woodland Crematorium on 29th July at 1.45pm. Wendy Elderbrant, aged 78, of Whickham, died peacefully on 14th July 2026. Wife of Henry (Ted), mam of Stephen, nana of Ethan, twin sister of the late Moira, sister of Maureen. Service at Saltwell Crematorium on 27th July at 10.30am. Donations to Kidney Dialysis.

Valerie Ellis, aged 82, late of Southwick, died peacefully on 9th July. Mam of Wendy and Graham, mother-in-law of Lynette and Tony, nana of Becky, Leon, Gabi and Kaden, great-nana to Evie. Service at Sunderland Crematorium on 30th July at 11am.

Terence Thomas (Bear) Elsinor, aged 39, died peacefully on 11th July 2026 after a long battle with cancer. Leaves fiancée Sarah, daughter Isabelle, mother Janet, sister Lisa and brother David. Funeral on 23rd July at St Patrick's Church, Consett, burial at Brooms Church, Leadgate. Wake at Consett Golf Club.

Maureen (Nee Summerfield) Flynn, aged 82, of Heworth, died suddenly at home on 5th July. Wife of Fred, mam of Christopher and Angela, grandma of David, Scott, Lee and Andrew, great-grandma. Service at Saltwell Crematorium on 23rd July at 2.30pm. Donations to Marie Curie.

Basil Forster, aged 90, of North Shields, died peacefully on 6th July. Husband of the late Jean, dad of Janet, Stephen and the late Susan and Carol, granda and great-granda. Service at Tynemouth Crematorium on 29th July at 11.15am. Donations to Dementia UK.

Phil Gordon, aged 78, formerly of HMRC, died after a short illness on 12th July. Husband of Marg, dad of Kelly, Donna and Chris, grandad of Joseph, Vala, Isaac and Callum. Service at Saltwell Crematorium on 27th July at 11.15am. Donations to Cancer Research UK.

Olive Johnson, aged 97, of Battlefield, formerly Byker, died peacefully on 13th July 2026. Wife of the late Joe, mam of the late David, sister of Peggy. Service at West Road Crematorium on 28th July at 12.30pm. Family flowers only, black not to be worn.

Kevin Keegan, former footballer and manager, died at 75 following a battle with cancer. Won back-to-back Ballon d'Or awards, played for Liverpool, Hamburg, Newcastle United, and Scunthorpe United.
