Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could spend their first Christmas in the UK since 2018, with the couple reportedly planning to stay in the Cotswolds with their children for the festive period. Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, moved back to the UK in August, six years after stepping down from royal duties and relocating to the US.
Poll shows readers oppose the plan
In a Daily Express poll, readers were asked whether the couple should stay in the UK for Christmas. Of the 2,921 people who voted, 2,725 (93%) said they should not stay in the UK. Just 130 people (5%) voted that they should, while 66 people (2%) were unsure.
It was previously reported that Meghan and Harry were set to return to California for Christmas. The couple were thought to want to spend the holidays with Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, who is known for being close to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. It is now thought Doria could travel to the UK to spend time with the family of four.

Speaking about the couple's Christmas plans, a source told Heatworld: "With the kids in school, they can't keep bouncing between California and the UK whenever they feel like it, so they've got some difficult decisions coming up because they are not on the same page."
Christmas history and future plans
The couple spent Christmas with the royals in December 2018, when the late Queen Elizabeth II invited Meghan as Harry's fiancée. It is unknown whether the couple will be invited to spend Christmas at the Sandringham estate with the royals, but Harry remains largely estranged from his brother, Prince William. The couple celebrated Christmases between 2020 and 2025 in the US.
