Eugenie told not to worry about Meghan apology

Princess Eugenie has been advised by a royal expert that she should “not worry” about apologising to Meghan Markle after a book that appeared to have been gifted and signed from the duchess to Eugenie was listed on eBay.

Last week, royal fans noticed Meghan Markle’s children’s book, The Bench, which appeared to have a personalised signed message inside to Princess Eugenie, was being advertised for sale on eBay for almost £20,000.

Alleged message inside the book

Meghan’s alleged message to Eugenie, written inside her children’s book, reads: “2021. Dear Eug & Jack, Celebrating the special bond between father and son. I wrote this poem at Frogmore - I hope that Eug, you witness the same love there with your guys. All love, Meghan.”

It has not been confirmed whether the book and its signature is actually from Meghan, or if someone else has pretended this is the case. The book has now been removed from the selling site.

Eugenie reportedly horrified

However, it has been reported that Eugenie has been “horrified” by the situation, and even called her cousin Prince Harry’s wife herself.

A source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice substack: “Eugenie called Meghan herself. She was horrified the book had somehow ended up for sale and made it absolutely clear she would never knowingly sell a personal gift from Meghan.”

While Eugenie may feel the need to apologise, one royal expert has told The Daily Express that she shouldn’t “worry”.

Talking to The Daily Express, Richard Fitzwilliams said: “No one seems quite sure whether the first edition copy of Meghan’s book The Bench, supposedly inscribed to her royal cousins Eugenie and Jack, came to be online with a price tag of £20,000.

“It isn't clear if it was genuine. It has been taken down. We know that Meghan and Eugenie were close. There are reports they have been in touch over this strange affair with Eugenie apologising. Eugenie should not worry.”

Expert suggests Meghan may have plans

He added: “We still don't know the real reason for Harry and Meghan's decision to move to Britain. Meghan is likely to have plans which may involve those in the royal family who are friendly toward her. She won't let an incident like this upset them!”

The book listing was removed from eBay days ago after royal fans began to notice it. Many royal fans commented on the listing on X, calling it “hilarious”.

Others rightly questioned the legitimacy of the listing. The Daily Express contacted Meghan Markle’s team for comment.
