Emma and Matt Willis: Inside their 22-year love story and family life

Television host Emma Willis, who fronts The Voice UK, Love Is Blind UK and Strictly Come Dancing, has been married to Busted's Matt Willis since 2008. The couple, both aged 50 and 43 respectively, first met in 2004 when she was presenting for MTV and he appeared on the programme with his band.

The celebrity pair have been in a relationship for 22 years. Matt marked a recent wedding anniversary by having a tattoo of his wife's face inked. In 2022, the duo, who share three children and co-host Love Is Blind UK, opened up about Matt's previous struggles in a BBC documentary titled Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction. They subsequently presented a docuseries exploring therapy, Change Your Mind, Change Your Life. Throughout the challenges, they have remained united and presently reside in their £1.7million Hertfordshire property.

How Emma and Matt Willis first met and married

Emma and Matt have been wed since 2008, having originally met in 2004. Discussing her initial impression of the musician, Emma revealed to Cosmopolitan: "I'd see him wearing baggy jeans, waddling around like a duck so they didn't fall down. He used to wear makeup and have weird hairstyles. But I remember thinking underneath all that was a really cute guy."

Matt told Metro: "I vividly remember when we first started dating, we would stay over at her parents' house, and when we woke up the next day, all they wanted to do was sit around and hang out. Just sit on the sofa and talk. I'd never really experienced that. It was quite uncomfortable for me."

Wedding and renewal of vows

Matt popped the question in 2007 while in Venice, before the couple tied the knot twelve months later at Ruston Hall in Northamptonshire. A decade on, in 2017, they returned to their wedding venue to renew their vows on their tenth anniversary.

Speaking recently ahead of his appearance in Cabaret, Matt shared: "She's [Emma's] the person I wanna do life with all the time. The first person I wanted to tell I got the Cabaret job was Emma. She's the first person I'll call when something cool happens or something bad happens. We're crazy about each other. Work can get crazy, family life can be really full on at times, but at the end of it we are very adamant on being present as a couple. I talk to her 10 times a day. She doesn't leave me alone, which is good because I wouldn't wanna be left alone. We're very much in this life together."

Upcoming television appearances

The Voice UK returns on Saturday, August 22 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX while Strictly Come Dancing kicks off next month on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
