Delta Goodrem in tears as Strictly hosts send love after injury

Delta Goodrem broke down in tears while watching Strictly Come Dancing from home this weekend, after one of the hosts sent her a sweet message. The Australian singer and actress was forced to miss Icons Week after hurting her rib while training with partner Kai Widdrington.

She watched the episode from home and recorded her reaction on video, later posting it to her Instagram for fans to see. Hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe paid tribute to her as they opened the show.

Hosts send their love

Emma told viewers that while on the advice of the medical team Delta would not be dancing, she had received a pass which meant that injury permitting she would be dancing next week. Johannes then said: "Delta my darling I know you’ll be watching so I just want to say we are all sending you so much love."

As the former pro-dancer offered his kind words, Delta could be seen breaking down in tears. "I love you too," she said, blowing a kiss to the trio of hosts in the video she captioned: ‘Thanks team. It’s been a rough week. Love you guys!’

Delta's recovery message

The former Neighbours star had previously posted a message updating her fans on her recovery. She said: "Hello everybody! I just wanted to say hello before Strictly starts, I’ve got my little seat ready and I’ve been recovering."

"I promise I’ll share more over the next couple of days, it takes a while to get into a positive mindset when you have a setback and you just need to be able to process it and work out what the body is saying and how we continue to move through this but in the meantime I’m very excited to see the amazing talented class of 2026. I’m so exited to watch them do their iconic performances tonight. I’m sorry I’m not there for this one but I’m giving it everything I’ve got to be there next week."

Judges steal the limelight

As Icons Week started, viewers were left "crying" minutes in as the hosts introduced the judges to the stage who had made the effort to dress as their icons too. While Shirley Ballas channelled Lady Gaga and Motsi Mabuse embodied Beyonce, it was Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke who stole the limelight as they sported bucket hats, dark glasses and parkas in a nod to Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Their appearance had fans flocking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions, with one saying: "Anton and Craig. My god! Who'd have thought it. Liam and Noel Gallagher on #Strictly." A second said: "Craig and Anton dressed as the Gallagher brothers is killing me #strictly." A third pointed out: "CACKLING at craig and anton as oasis." Another commented: "CRAIG AND ANTON AS LIAM AND NOEL GALLAGHER? ! I am absolutely crying." A fifth posted: "Nearly spat my drink out when I saw Craig and anton come on out there."

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
