A man who claims he saw Jesus Christ after being pronounced dead for 45 minutes has revealed a second encounter with the Almighty. Mike McKinsey, a construction site manager from Chattanooga, Tennessee, was struck down with a mystery illness shortly after arriving at his son's wedding venue, five hours from home.
Wedding and sudden illness
McKinsey initially dismissed his symptoms as a standard bout of flu, managing to get through the wedding day despite a burning fever and insomnia. But he was rushed to hospital immediately after the ceremony. Doctors suspected appendicitis and performed emergency surgery.
During that time, he claims he had his first vision of Jesus, followed by a stranger visit 24 hours later.
The second encounter
Recalling the moment, McKinsey told UNILAD: "I woke up and could barely breathe. I called the nurse and she told me I was coming down with pneumonia." More nurses hooked him up to oxygen and used ice blankets because his temperature was over 104 degrees. He was given a spirometer to breathe into.
As the nurses were leaving, he felt a holy presence enter the room. He said: "I knew Jesus was back and I figured he was coming to take me back to heaven for good this time. I knew I waited too long to get checked out. But he sat down at the end of my bed and started talking to me."
Despite a nurse standing in the room, the conversation was silent to everyone else. He said: "When he spoke, the nurse who had stayed in the room couldn't hear him. And when I spoke to him, she couldn't hear me either." Jesus told him: "I had to get you flat on your back away from all the distractions so you could hear me. He went on to tell me I would make a full recovery and he was calling me out to do more for his kingdom." The chat lasted three hours.
Description of Jesus and heaven
McKinsey described Jesus as "walking in as a physical person" wearing a white robe, with "darker skin than [he] had been shown as a kid." He said: "[He] had a short dark brown beard with dark wavy hair. His eyes were a dark greenish blue. Even though he looked different, I knew immediately that it was Jesus."
Jesus held out his hand and said, "I want to answer your prayer," before leading him to paradise. McKinsey described standing on lush green grass with heightened senses, able to feel every blade and know the exact number. The scene featured a hill covered in flowers that swayed despite no wind.
