Award-winning actor Charles Dance has found love with Alessandra Masi, an Italian production designer. The couple, who were introduced on the set of The Book of Vision in 2018, reportedly started dating in 2020, and they're totally unfazed by their 22-year age gap.
A 'very, very lucky' meeting
Speaking with The Times in 2023, Charles, 79, said he felt "very, very lucky" to have met the "fantastic" 57-year-old. Prior to their introduction, Charles had been married to the renowned sculptor Joanna Haythorn from 1970 to 2004. Together, they share two children: Oliver and Rebecca Dance.
Chatting with Gyles Brandreth on his Rosebud podcast, the Game of Thrones star took full responsibility for the breakdown of their 34-year marriage. "For the most part, it was a wonderful marriage," he noted. "But then, unfortunately, I succumbed to some temptations along the way, and the marriage ended because of my behaviour, really."
Previous relationships
Following their decision to divorce, Charles began dating artist Eleanor Boorman in 2008, and together they welcomed a daughter, Rose, in 2012. The duo decided to separate months later. "I don't see much of Rose, unfortunately, but that's just the way it is," the actor admitted to The Guardian in 2023.
While things didn't work out in his previous relationships, Charles and Alessandra appear to be going strong, and they've been spotted together at high-profile events. Back in May, the loved-up pair attended the Television Makers' Dinner in London, where they were photographed chatting with actors Lindsay Duncan and Hilton McRae. Prior to that, the couple enjoyed a glamorous date night at a London screening of Netflix's Zero Day in February 2025.
Life in Kentish Town
During an interview with The Times in 2023, Charles revealed that Alessandra lived with him most of the time in Kentish Town, "which I'm really pleased about". Shedding further light on their life together, the Frankenstein actor has also spoken about their travels together.
"Holidays have never been a big part of my life. My other half, Alessandra, is Italian. They're big on holidays," Charles explained to The Telegraph in 2025. "I've had more holidays since I've been with her than I've had in my whole life. We had a short weekend in Athens not so long ago, and I thought I'd quite like to go back in the winter. There are some cities that are really fascinating."
