Chad Lowe's family was plagued with heartache in the months leading up to his daughter Fiona's death aged 13. The death of the teenager, who was the youngest of the Hollywood actor's three kids with Kim Painter, was confirmed on Tuesday. Her family said they were "heartbroken" and "devastated" in a moving statement. They did not disclose the cause of her death.
Loss of Home in Pacific Palisades Fire
Her passing comes just over a year after her family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire in January 2025. Lowe had praised his daughters' resilience to the loss of their home a month later, calling their attitude as "nothing short of remarkable." He shared photos of them visiting the charred remains of their destroyed house on Instagram.
"Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what's left of their home," he penned. "I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life's greatest joy and privilege."
Reflections on Tragedy and Resilience
Their home burned down two months after Fiona's 15th birthday. At the time, Chad - the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, 61 - shared a post celebrating her entering her teenage years. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!" he wrote.
In January 2026 - a year on from their home burning down - Chad recalled feeling "overwhelmed" by "anger, despair, and frustration" during the tragedy. "One year ago today, our lives got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe. It's hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm," he wrote.
"Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day. However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth - we can't always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond. And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance."
"I am in awe of their resilience. Also, we are buoyed by the outpouring of support, assistance, and well wishes from so many people in our lives. The way people have responded has given us great comfort, hope and strength to rebuild our lives. Thank you one and all! Fiona's death was confirmed by her family to People. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," they said. "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
