Andy Murray Reveals Kate's Chat About George, Charlotte and Louis at Wimbledon
Andy Murray on Kate's Chat About George, Charlotte and Louis

Andy Murray has revealed that the Princess of Wales opened up about the sporting interests of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during their afternoon together at Wimbledon this year. The two-time Wimbledon champion spent time with Kate on Court One watching British player Katie Swan take on Madison Keys in the second round.

Parenting Stories Take Centre Court

According to Murray, the conversation quickly turned from tennis to parenting. The Princess, who shares three children with the Prince of Wales, and Murray, who has four children with wife Kim, found common ground. "We've obviously both got quite a few kids, so there was a lot to chat about with that," Murray told Good Housekeeping. "I was asked to go and watch one of the matches with her the other day and it was good fun."

Former British No.1 Anne Keothavong, who also sat with them, confirmed the chat was lively. "Kate didn't stop chatting, it was brilliant," she told reporters. "Andy was there as well and we all have kids [of a] similar age, so a lot of the chat revolved around that, and tennis, and encouraging young kids to play and the challenges that we face as parents."

Royal Children's Sporting Interests

Murray gained insight into the royal household, noting that the children are active in sports. "I got the feeling that they're quite sporty," he said. "They've been to watch [tennis] before. I think they play a little bit, [and] a little bit of padel." Padel is a fast-growing racquet sport combining tennis and squash.

Murray, who was knighted in 2017 for services to tennis and charity, has taken up padel since retiring from professional tennis in 2024. "When I play golf with my friends or padel, I'm still very competitive. I don't play that much tennis anymore," he said.

Murray's Own Family

He also shared that his own children—Sophia, Edie, Teddy and Lola—are sporty. "They play football and hockey and netball, so I just mix in with all the things that they're doing and try and stay active that way," he added.
