Andrew Makes Rare Public Appearance at Sandringham Horse Trials
Andrew's First Public Outing Since Downfall at Sandringham

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor made his first public appearance in months on Sunday, attending the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials on the King's estate. The disgraced former prince was seen cheering on the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, from a distance before leaving shortly after her race.

Low-Key Appearance

Attendees reported that Andrew kept a low profile, watching from a quiet area away from the main arena under the cover of trees. He left the field at 10:30 am in his Land Rover Defender, just after Sophie completed her round. Prince Edward, wearing an open-necked polo shirt, also left shortly after, while the Duchess stayed for the afternoon, wearing a cream jacket, navy blue floral skirt, and a straw boater.

One onlooker told The Sun: “Andrew sneaked in and sneaked out and definitely didn’t want to be seen. But I saw Andrew leave the field at 10.30am, just after Sophie had ridden her round, then I saw Edward walking towards his car smiling shortly afterwards.”

Background of Scandal

Andrew has been largely absent from public life since being stripped of his royal titles, evicted from Royal Lodge, and arrested in connection with misconduct in public office. He was not charged and released under investigation. He has since been housed on the Sandringham Estate. The last time he was seen in public, he had a bruise on his face, thought to be linked to medication.

His brother Edward was the first royal to visit him over the Easter weekend. Andrew has faced allegations related to his connection with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. In a release of files by the US Department of Justice, a photo showed Andrew kneeling over a woman on all fours. Another woman claimed Epstein arranged for Andrew to spend a night with her in Windsor in 2010. Andrew has consistently denied all allegations.
