Prince Andrew's surprise appearance at last year's Royal Family Easter Sunday service has been scrutinised by a body language expert, who described his demeanour as displaying 'cocky arrogance'. The disgraced royal, who was stripped of his titles earlier this year, joined the family at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, in what was his first official royal event since Easter 2024.
Body language expert Judi James told the Mirror that Andrew's behaviour resembled a 'debutante's coming out ball'. She noted that while his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson displayed confidence, waving and chatting with clergy, Andrew waited in the chapel doorway before making a dramatic entrance. He then positioned himself in the middle of the group with his jacket undone and legs splayed, using a pointed finger while speaking with his brother-in-law, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Andrew's appearance came amid an ongoing investigation into his actions as UK trade envoy. In February, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This year, he will spend Easter alone on the Sandringham estate while the rest of the Royal Family gather for the annual service.
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman suggested that Andrew mentioned Prince William and Princess Kate during his conversation with Sir Tim. The Prince and Princess of Wales did not attend the Windsor service, instead spending Easter weekend at Anmer Hall in Norfolk with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
