Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is facing major humiliation, as it has been reported that "nobody in the Royal Family" wants to move into his former home in Windsor. The 66-year-old moved out of Royal Lodge back in early February, amid major calls to evict the disgraced royal dating back to 2022.
Royal Downfall and Scandals
For the majority of the year, Andrew has dominated headlines following his royal downfall as a result of scandals surrounding his previous friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has, however, always denied the claims and accusations against him.
With his former 30-room property now empty, it has long been wondered who would move into the home. It has now been reported that no members of the Royal Family have expressed interest in the property.
Upkeep Costs and Lease Details
The Daily Mail have shared that the next tenant must be able to handle the estimated £400,000-a-year upkeep if they were to move in. A source has said: "The Crown Estate is a business, so the bean counters there are relieved Andrew didn't give up his lease early, as the ongoing costs would have become their obligation, not Andrew's."
It is also known that Andrew officially still owns the lease of Royal Lodge until the end of October. Andrew took on the lease of Royal Lodge back in 2003, paying £8million, which covered the rent for its 75-year term.
Sarah Ferguson's Move and Documentary Reports
His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, also lived at Royal Lodge and moved out earlier this year. It has been reported that Sarah could soon accept the offer to appear in a new "tell-all documentary" following her UK return.
