Tiffany Pollard has re-entered the Big Brother UK house this week, immediately stirring tensions with fellow housemate Philip. The 44-year-old American reality TV star, known for her iconic status in Big Brother history, joined the current series and quickly became the centre of drama.
Rise to Fame on Flavor of Love
Tiffany, a New York native, first gained fame in 2006 on the VH1 dating show Flavor of Love. Her larger-than-life personality and memorable one-liners led to her own spin-off, I Love New York, which ran for three seasons.
She subsequently appeared in shows like New York Goes to Hollywood and New York Goes to Work, hosted a YouTube series called Brunch with Tiffany, and made appearances on RuPaul's Drag Race, House of Villains, and The Weakest Link.
Celebrity Big Brother 2016 and the 'David's Dead' Moment
In 2016, Tiffany was part of the 17th series of Celebrity Big Brother UK on Channel 5, alongside Angie Bowie, David Gest, and Gemma Collins. Her most memorable moment came when Angie Bowie whispered to her, 'You can't say a word: David's dead,' referring to her ex-husband David Bowie's death. Tiffany collapsed to the floor wailing, having mistaken David Bowie for fellow housemate David Gest.
The phrase 'David's dead' became a meme, and Tiffany sold T-shirts with the slogan, but she pulled the clothing line after Gest died months later from a stroke at age 62. In 2022, she claimed on Watch What Happens Live that Gest's ghost haunted her kitchen, saying, 'David and I have not made up. And I did not rewatch that episode, but he does haunt my kitchen. Every once in a while…' She added, 'David, please stop coming into the kitchen and messing with the knives and forks. He's mad at me.'
Return to Big Brother UK and Clash with Philip
Upon entering the house, Tiffany hosted a party for the housemates, but tensions quickly rose. She told Big Brother: 'I felt like they were really excited to greet me, but at the same time, I know that they're holding back. A few of the Housemates are not happy that I'm here, but for the majority of them, they're very happy to see me.'
After Tiffany said something that insulted Philip, he confronted her, stating, 'I'm very upset with what you said Tiffany, to be honest with you.' Tiffany responded, 'Excuse me, do you have a problem with me?' Philip stormed off to the bedroom, telling Rochelle, 'She's f****** nasty, through and through.' Tiffany continued to fume: 'That was some bulll**** and I'm the houseguest, I just got here. And I gotta deal with him?'
Viewers were entertained, with one fan writing on X: 'Philip is going to be destroyed by tiffany pollard and then get kicked out of the house to a sea of boos on friday. what a beautiful week'. Another said: 'This was sooo needed; it was getting dry. She's earning her money for sure'.
Big Brother continues on ITV2 tonight at 9pm, with episodes available on ITVX.
